T#14 Segment Manager Dynamics 365 for marketing

Dynamics 365 for marketing segment manager is a new XrmToolBox tool allowing you to easily import an Excel sheet of crm contacts into your static segments.

The tool is not a threat to your organization data management, as it never creates contacts in your CRM. It only matches your excel uploaded file with any existing contacts and adds them to your static segment.


All the steps to be done are well documented through numbered bullet points in the tool, and displayed below in this blog:



1. Import Excel:

Your excel file needs to be imported by clicking on the "1. Import Excel" button. The only column that will be considered is the first column of your file. It should be the "contactid" (CRM Guid) field.


2. Add/Remove members

Select "Add" in case you would like to add the imported members to the segment

Select "Remove" in case you would like to remove the imported members from the segment


3. Select import type:

Select "Outbound" if you would like to use outbound segments

Select "Realtime" if you would like to use realtime segments (feature coming soon)


4. Display Segments list:

Click on this button to load all of the marketing segments into the list displayed on the right side under "5. Select the target segments".


5. Select the target segments:

Select your target segment(s). You can select one or multiple segments to which you would like to add your members imported from the excel file upload.


6. Import Members:

Final step! By clicking on this button all the excel file contacts will be successfully added to your segment. Once done, refresh your segment page in CRM and there you go! Your contacts got added to the segment.

It happens the same to me, when I click on installing, seems that the tool is installed but it's not. Any update on this?

Hello Joseph,

I'm trying to install the tool in the latest version of XrmToolbox. The installation dialolg shows two green check marks (Download and Installation). But the tool is not installed. When I check the plugins in the Nuget Plugins in the file system I can see that a folder "D365MarketingSegmentManager.1.2022.1.1" has been created but this folder is empty. Do you have an idea what could be the issue?

Hello,

The tools is really useful and it works fine with the email address but it doesn't work for me with the Contact ID. Do you use a specific format ?

The tool works great except it seems to be case sensitive. If the email address in your excel file is lowercase and the email address in dynamics is uppercase the tool will not find a match based on email address.
